I think that you are on your way. In New York artist can sell there art on the Street of Manhattan like in SoHo. So go to your local artist area. The best thing is you do not need a permit. The same with book. So try to find am outdoor Farmers market. Go to your local restaurant and ask the owner it you can hang some art and have him sell it and you give him a profit of say $50
Go to your local gallery with some photo's and see what they say.
You can also sell it over the internet. Good luck

It would be great if there were a precise formula for getting your art into galleries, museums and private collections. But every artist's path is different.

I recommend a mix internet marketing strategies with sincere personal skills to take charge of your career.

You can set up a blog for free to promote your art on Blogger.com. Also networking with those in the art world on Twitter and other social networking sites can help spread the word.

And, good old-fashioned mail should be a part of your marketing efforts. When is the last time you sent a mailing to your entire list of contacts, both know to you locally and online?
Don’t neglect regular mail. Add postcards, thank-you notes, holiday cards, and “surprise” letters to your marketing strategy.

Also join your local art society and get involved with their competitions and promotions.

And you must enter as many competitions as you can to get your art out there.

Alyson B. Stanfield, the art-marketing guru behind ArtBizCoach.com, shares self-promotion tools that have enhanced the careers of thousands of artists in her book That's why I'd Rather Be in the Studio!

Alyson explains how you need to:

1. Introduce yourself as an artist so people want to know more

2. Nail your artist statement to discover the right words for all of your marketing messages

3. Expand your mailing list and use it to cultivate collectors

4. Create marketing materials that outshine the competition

5. Become a media magnet so buyers come to you

6. Take advantage of your Web site and blog to build a bigger audience

Hope I have given you some ideas. I have been working on the very same issue, to get my artwork out there.
