School monitoring students' twitters?!?
My school is monitoring students' twitters! Today, my head-of-year walked into citizenship at the end of the day, and read out a list of students' who had tweeted about school or during school hours, and reprimanded them! ARE THEY EVEN ALLOWED TO DO THIS?! I don't use twitter during school hours, but think it's awful they're doing this! It IS awful, in fact!
Is there anything I can do? I can't actually believe that they would be allowed to do this! They SHOULDN'T be able to do this. It's such an invasion of privacy, and I am so annoyed about it! Any feedback reply is MUCH appreciated! Smile

Twitter is a public platform, if you don't want certain people to read your tweets then make your profile private. It's not an invasion of privacy if your profile is open for all to see.

People that tweet are saying something set for the public to see so it's not really an invasion of privacy. But the fact that the school is checking pupils' tweets is too protective and schools have no right to stick their nose in. Sorry, just my opinion, anyway. Smile

Heh heh heh!

Oh, they're allowed to check, there's no reason why not. ANYONE can check on what you put online! Your twitter and Facebook stuff will be searched by prospective employers, future dates...you name it. Beware of what you put out there.

Now here's the question:
Does your school have a policy in place regarding the use of technology during school hours? And if you don't and you challenge it, will they create one just to spite you?

They can do it, and they should. What on earth are you doing using twitter in school?
