How could I market my self?

Getting ready to start my own technical support for home end users gig to make extra cash. I am in need of some good ideas on how I can market my self and find possible long and short term customers. I already thought about posting on sites like Craigslist, I also though about sending out mails to peoples houses with brochures and biz cards, contacted to a few people and see if they can pass on my info to others. Can you think of any other ways were I can gain some valuable customers, other good known sites? any other ways?

To start you could set up social networking sites and start adding your friends. I would build a Fan page on facebook and start suggesting it to everyone you know. Create a squidoo page outlining your service on that page. After getting the social networking setup, go to your local community college or regular college if you live close enough and put up fliers. A lot of College kids still don't know how to use their computer, I'm assuming that is the kind of technical support you are talking about. You might want to check out backpage.com it is kind of like craigslist. And if you are advertising all over the country you should probably set up a 1-800 number through a VoIP company like http://www.bbtelsys.com/. It will look more professional too. If you are trying to make some extra cash try and spend as little money on advertising as possible. Print media can get expensive real fast, something to think about when you are planning your marketing approach. Hope this helps you out good luck.
