Why is it so hard for me to express my own thoughts on fb?
I'm an Atheist that has lots of religious friends I consider almost like family members. They post stuff about jesus and god on facebook. I have a few atheist friends too that I know would like some of the thoughts I have. I don't like to offend people or go into a competition about religion. I just want to be able to express my own thoughts more but find it hard to offend the people I'm close to.

I have heard that although is difficult for an atheist to express her or his own thoughts in USA, it is impossible in Iraq and similar countries. Do you think you will be able to convince a creationist? of course not. So do not talk about religion on facebook. Keep it simple.

Certainly it is hard because you don't want to come on accute angle with your friends regarding religious aspects. However, facebook is a medium to express your thoghts, which you can do with confidence. Should not feel otherwise.

I find myself many times at odds with friends who are conservatives while while I'm a liberal Democratic. For me I always try to add some satire into the discussions. In your case, if someone were to ask you in a seemingly uptight way to clarify your thoughts on God and religion you might answer " Well I swear there ain't no Heaven but I pray there ain't no Hell". Good luck.
