How do I sync Facebook contacts on moto g mobile phone?

Can someone please tell me how to sync Facebook contacts on to the Motorola Moto G mobile? Basically I want all the photos etc for my friends profiles to appear on my phone but when I press on sync under accounts on my phone list then nothing happens. I transferred my contacts from my old phone using an app...but I am assuming this should not make a difference. Thanks

go into settings, then scroll down to accounts. Facebook should be listed as one of the standard accounts, click and add your details. Then go to your contacts and enter the settings tab, you'll see an accounts option, select your facebook account and then select sync all contacts. Your contacts will now update with peoples facebook profile photos.

I followed this step by step and nothing happened. Perhaps I'm not doing something correctly?
