...doesn't that contradict the fact that Craigslist is considered social media?

Sites who's only purpose it is to find jobs are not considered social media, however sites like LinkedIn which is designed to help you keep in touch with your current and former co-workers (and those connections could help you get a job later) would be considered social media by most people.
