Can you get discovered on instagram?

Is it possible to be discovered by modeling agents or anybody else with instagram?

No. Modeling agents don't look on Instagram, Facebook or any other site/app for new models. They don't need to. Model agents discover models because those models either send in their pictures to the agency directly or they attend an open call or model search held by the agency. You hear about "scouts" discovering models but that happens very rarely. The majority of models are found by submitting their photos to local agencies or attending open calls or model searches.
I worked for one of the biggest agencies in NYC and only knew of one model on our books who was scouted on the street. It was just a random occurence -- one of the bookers went out to Macy's at lunch to get a new foundation from the MAC counter and while she was there, she saw a girl and her mother at the same counter and thought the girl would be a perfect model. Had she gone to Macy's 5 minutes earlier or later, she never would have seen this girl
Pretty much every other model either mailed or emailed her photos, attended one of our open calls, participated in a model search held in conjunction with a magazine like Seventeen, or were referred by that model's agent in another city who wanted them to work in NYC
