Why is Facebook saying that i do have notifications for?

After i do log on to my Facebook account i do not see any notifications of any kind and why is Facebook keep sending me emails saying that i do have notifications for when i do no have any

Check your Notification Settings.

1) In the top right click the down arrow menu (to the right of "Home") and choose "Account Settings"
2) On the far left click on "Notification Settings"

This will list every type of notification you've received, and give you a count of the number you've received of that type.

Additionally, clicking on each notification type "Facebook", "Photos", "Groups", etc... will allow you to drill down and customize what notifications you would like to receive.

sounds like your first answer is a good one

I set mine so I only get an email when someone leaves a comment on something I posted, that cut down a lot on the number of notifications I receive.

If you are getting a lot for games you are not interested in, block those games, sometimes you will get a lot of those because of things your friends are playing.
