Should I message my parent's old friend on facebook for some advice?

I know this is a random question...but basically my parents have this old high school friend who added me on facebook a while back. I accept almost everyone on facebook because to me it's not a big deal and I don't post anything personal on facebook anyways.
So he's an atheist and I am too, and I wanted to ask him questions about a situation I'm having with someone very close to me who is religious.
Do you think it would be awkward if I randomly message him? Should I just send the message and see what he says?

There are many of us that are atheist, I have several simple question I ask religious people when they start on about their religion and not one of them can answer the questions which are

If Jesus was born in Bethlehem what is the true religion
Did God name is religion
Did God write the bible
Why are there so many different religions
Why are the churches and their leaders rich
