For Facebook, is there a friend connection between every user.?

I do not know why but I have always wondered, so you have one friend on Facebook right. Now that friend is friends with someone you know or don't know. So is there the possibility that there could be a connection like this that links all Facebook users.

No of course not, my daughter has about 300 "friends" on Facebook, I know about 5 of these people personally the rest I have never heard of, don't know and don't want to know.

I suppose they could be, it is unlikely that the people would personally know each other because no one is great friends with everyone on their friends list. but yes, you could have a mutual friend with someone else who has a mutual friend with someone else etc. etc.
