Adding an ex as a friend on Facebook?

I just dated a guy briefly, and I said some mean things, and he told me not to text him or reach out to him anymore. Should I add him as a friend on Facebook and does that seem like I'm running or chasing him down if I do that? Or are guys okay with the social media connection even though you aren't calling/texting the guy anymore?

I'd recommend against it, but if you really want to add him, perhaps messaging him with an apology would help.
