Step 1: Change your profile pic.
Step 2: Go to your fb wall/timeline.
Step 3: Click the upper-right corner of the most recent story (that you just updated your profile pic) and select "Delete".

This deletes the story from your wall/timeline, as well as other peoples' news feeds.
