Why didn't she accept my friend request?

There's this girl. I know what you're thinking...let me just first say that I have absolutely no romantic feelings for her. I was really good friends with her brother a long time ago. Anyways I sent her a friend request on Facebook, and I even told her " Hey! Do you remember me, me and your bro were best friends. ". And she didn't accept it. I don't get it. Why the hell are girls like this? It makes me feel like people think I'm some sort of creep when the only reason I sent her a friend request was because I wanted to get back in touch with her brother. He is not on facebook so this was the only way to reach him. PS: She wasn't even hot.

@ Alan, This has got nothing to do with me not respecting her. If you know a person and they're not bothering you in any way, what's the harm in adding them on facebook?
And btw, I added her to get to her brother, because there was no other way of getting to him.
@ Einar, I said she wasn't hot to wipe off the notion that I had any other reason to send her a friend request.
@ Mircat, I don't have an ego. If she has the right to decline my friend request, then I have to right to post this question on Yahoo. And there's no way she doesn't remember me, I used to hang out with her brother everyday for 3 years...unless she has long term memory loss.

What the hell indeed. It's her brother that you tried to keep in touch, not her. So why bother her? If she doesn't want to keep in touch with you, that's her choice, not yours. Learn to respect, and your lack of respect could be the reason she didn't accept you in the first place. Smart girl.

Wash your ego in some hot water and shrink it. People are not obligated to accept friend offers, requests for dates, declarations of crushes, or apologies. It's a free world and if they don't want to they don't have to.

Could be she doesn't remember you at all.

Why weren't you simply honest and said, "Hi Suzy, this is Gary, I was friends with your brother quite awhile ago and I'd like to get in touch with him again but don't know how. Would you please give him my phone number and e-mail and tell him I'd really like to see him again. Thank you! Gary.

First of all, if youre so good friends with her brother then why does it bother you so much that she didnt accept?
She might find you annoying, because when people are with friends they often act differently.

She wasnt even hot? So is she hot now?
And dont say "She wasnt even hot". It is disrespectful and makes people think you only care about looks.
