Facebook profile fake or not?
Question? This this profile fake or not?

http://www.facebook.com/people/Bri-Garci...3960038282

I'm on my MyYearbook and she wants me to be friends with her on facebook so I'm wondering if it's a fake profile or not. I don't know who she is. She's not even a friend on my MyYearbook.

NEVER accept a friend request from anyone you don't know - they are almost always scammers who are trying to steal your identity, then they will claim to be in love with you but want your money or want you to sign up for a webcam site or a premium rate text service.

What REAL woman on Facebook has only 39 friends, almost all of whom are men? Real women usually have 200+ friends and most of them will be female.

Here is the real Brianna Garcia who is a singer and claims people are setting up fake profiles using her pictures. She has over 500 friends on Teenspot meaning she would have at least that many on a real Facebook profile

She has over 9000 followers on Myspace http://www.myspace.com/384129063

You should consider these red flags when you get friend requests from people that you don't know.

Fake profiles usually send out mass friend requests to anyone, don't accept the request as soon as you receive especially if you don't know the person requesting it from you. At least one of your mutual friends have to at least prove that they actually know this person.

The account will most likely have a fake profile picture with a very attractive lady in it which is usually used to pose as a female user in facebook.

Most people on facebook will have their accounts privacy tweaked to their liking, most fake accounts are usually just using the default settings.

Beware of profiles that rarely have any real photos of the actual person that is connected to the account.

If you get a friend request from celebrities or politicians be aware of this too, because unless you are one of them they wouldn't just give out friend reqests to anyone.

You can also do a quick google search on the person's profile to check for any inconsistencies.

Check the profile wall of the said person if the wall is just full of messages like "thanks for the add" and if the feed is just filled with "Add Feed" ( is now friends with )

Check the photos of the profile if it has many pictures but noone is tagged in it.

One of the fastest ways to checking if it is fake profile is if the birthday is 01/01 (I know that there real people that were born on that time but it can help sort out fake profiles as wel)

Having too many friends from all the world, it is possible if the person has real connections but most of the time due to mass friend requests done by those with fake profiles anyone can be connected due to this without having any idea who's the person behind it.

The profile info might have all sections checked for example if the profile has both men and women checked in the "Interested In" section.

Considering you are using the MyYearbook app, it would be easier to track down the person to where he/she graduated, if the school doesn't have any record of this person then that could be another clue that the account might be fake.

Many fake profiles are set up so if you don't know them don’t add or accept the invitation.
