Is it a good idea to have co-workers as friends on facebook? I have heard sometimes managers send an employee to be "friends" with a co-worker to spy on them and see what they are up to on facebook. I have a co-worker friend on facebook and am VERY careful on what i say on facebook due to HR being called on me a while back (luckily I lied slighlty to get out of big time trouble) because of something misunderstood. If another co-worker asks to be friends on facebook should I befriend them or ignore their request

It's not prudent for them to be your friends on facebook. It will just lead to an abundance of problems. Don't mix your personal life, with your job. If they ask why you can't be their friends, just say that you are never on it.
