join a group but it says I don't have a profile?

I've tried to join a yahoo group. I have an invitation from the owner and as I follow the links it says
"You must first create a Yahoo! Profile" I have a profile, I can modify the settings of my profile but it doesn't seem to be recognized by Yahoo. Anybody else have this problem?
