You might get asked your age when you sign up, but that is it and it is completely private. I have a fake age on Facebook for privacy. You can fake your age but dont do for something that you can get in trouble for with the law. (Facebook and twitter are fine)

yes it is not necessary to put b'day but better you complete your profile it may give you some advantage,
