Do people that have over 500 facebook friends just add/accept random people?

the people with that many friends arent actually talking to people - they often just add random people who play the same facebook games that they do, because sites like zynga require to you have a ton of friends in order to advance in the game - that's how zynga makes money

they arent interested in talking to you - they just use a fake picture of a hot chick so they can get lots of friends so they can play their stupid online game

You are very correct mam/sir. One usually does not have a social circle of more than a handful of folks, even if a large handful. (its called dunbar's number. [reference here http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dunbar's_number ] Your average human being does not fully recognize more than approx 150 folks,, typically). Having facebook friends is much like having a stamp collection. If you have a stamp collection...any stamp will do. Noone with any collection will turn an item pertaining to that collection down. You become a stamp whore, a sycophant if you will. And to answer your question, any amount of Facebook friends is too many. Do yourself a favor...go out and make real friends!
