when u r posting u can see whether u want to share the post with public or private or friends or family based on that option your post will be visible

If you update your status(post something as your status) then yes they will. When they go to their newsfeed your status will be shown to your friends. Also when you post something on someones wall that person will get a notification saying you posten on their wall. Anyone can see it though. For example if i want to post somethig on Sally's facebook wall I will go to her timeline and then I will post something like "Hey Sally its been ages since i have seen you!! We need to get together sometime soon!" sally will then get a notification and when she goes to her timeline she will see what you posted. Anyone of her friends can look at her facebook wall and they will see what you posted to her. If you dont want anyone to see it just private message her(: Hope i helped
