Would this double major be marketable?

I have a choice of either graduating in 3 years or double majoring. I definitely want to major in Economics, and I was thinking of adding on a Business degree with a concentration in Public Policy and Public Service. My general career goal is to work in economic and social development, and I do want to eventually go to grad school. Is this double major a good choice?
They are within the same school so it would only be a semester or two more. I will already have 30 credits from high school anyways.

It is a B.S. in Econ and a B.A. in business with the concentration. Top 30 Business school.

I wouldn't double major, it's lots of work. I would major in economics and minor in business for your career plans.

A double major is always more marketable than a single major. My only concern is that these two majors are extremely similar (or am I wrong?), which cuts some benefits of double majoring slightly.

The other answerer is right. Another major isn't always more marketable.

It sounds like you are getting a B.A. in economics under the social science school instead of a B.S. under the business school. I would recomend that you take more business classes instead of more social science classes. That way, you will gain more skills. I think that would be more marketable.

Look at the market demand and what employers are looking for by pulling up a few job descriptions on the job board. Check out monster.com or careerbuilders.com. See how prevelant or if those degrees are in demand for the jobs you would be interested in.

If you goal is to make yourself more marketable, also make sure you do some internships before graduating so you'll have work experience for your resume and I'd also would take a few computer classes.
