How do I create a group in Facebook?

I am starting my own business and want to create a separate profile in Facebook. I would like people to become "fans" and also allow me the ability to send regular status updates with events, specials, etc. I don't think setting up a group allows you to send status updates... is this true?

Also, do I have to set up a separate Facebook account or can I link it to my regular profile? Thanks!
Can I also post status updates from this group?

to create a group you either type in groups or pages into the search box at the top of the facebook page. it will come up with another screen and at the right hand side toward the top of that page it will say create a group. click that button and follow the instructions. hope i helped =)

1: Go to your profile.
2: Click on your info.
3: scroll down to where it shows your list of groups.click see all.
4: At the top of the page under *My Groups* click create new group.

Step 1
First log-in to your Facebook account like you usually would with your username and password. If you want to create a group separate from your real name, then I suggest that you create a free gmail account that has the group name in it, and create a new Facebook account. Then log-in.

Facebook should take you to the "home" section of your profile, but if you are not there. Click "Home" in the top blue navigation bar. See image.

Now you want to look on the lower menu area to the bottom-left of your home page and search for the word "Applications". Click this link. Attached is a screenshot.

When you click this link, a box will pop up listing the Facebook Applications that you can choose from. Click on the
Groups" Link. See image.

The Facebook Groups page will now open up showing the main index screen for all of the facebook groups. You can bookmark this page to search for other groups later that you may want to join or network with. On this screen you will also see a button that says "Create a New Group" right by the search box. Click on this button. See the image for reference.

The first Step to creating a group in Facebook is to fill out the Group Info. You will see that there are fields for the Group Name, Group Description, the Group Type, and office location info. Fill in the fields that are relevant for your group, and then click "Create Group" at the bottom of the page.

Once you create your group, you will be taken to the next step in the Group Creation process that allows you to add a picture, add your website information, and set permissions for the group. Click Save. See picture.

Once you have completed creating your Group profile, you will now be able to invite members from your friends list. A list of all your Facebook friends will be displayed and you can simply click on the image of the friends that you want to invite to your group. Click "Invite Friends".
Step 9
Your group is now created, and you are all done! If this group is open to the public, anyone on Facebook will be able to join.
