What can I do to prepare for Facebook's mandatory switch to Timeline?
I've been on Facebook since 2005. I haven't installed Timeline yet because, frankly, it scares me....and I find the layout hideously confusing. Since FB is going to force everyone to switch on Jan 31st, though, what are some precautions one should take to prevent old, embarrassing content from being discovered by new friends whom you don't want to see it?

Any other tips would be appreciated.

Delete the old embarrassing content.

Other than that, you will adjust to it. Once you get it, play with it and learn the features of it.

FB Timeline is not scary at all. U jz need to get used to e many new features that u can easily get access to. Ur embarrassing content : u can either use e privacy(edit profile) to place it under private or u can forward it to ur other email a/c or delete it.
Suggestion made. Do as u deem fit.

Facebook released a video explaining how to customize your Timeline. You can see it here:

You can also use the Activity Log that comes with the Timeline to clean your past on Facebook:

Good luck!
