How do I ask for a girl's number on Facebook?

How to start a conversation on Facebook that will lead to getting a girl's number or even asking her out without being creepy or awkward? I have talk to this girl on Facebook before, and while talking to her I found out she had went to the same high school as I did, without knowing it. After her and I message each other, but it was quick, two weeks had pass and I messaged her again, we talk but again it was quick. But during those two weeks and even now she is on Facebook liking my statuses, so it's not she trying to avoid me.

I don't like it when guys ask for my number without us having met up face to face a few times. I don't know... I also don't really appreciate them asking over fb, it seems too distant. I think most girls are fine with it though?

Asking her out wise, I think you should ask her out for lunch. It doesn't have the same pressure that going out for dinner does. It could be a friend thing or more. It gives her a chance to turn you down nicely if she wants.

What I think is a good idea is fb video chatting or skyping. I think it is a bit more personal and it lets you have semi face to face conversations.
