Why do i get notifications on facebook that aren't even related to me?

Ok so i recently cleared my notifications on facebook through my phone and now I get a notification saying "so-so updated there status: blah blah blah" and a recent one like "so-so added a photo" i didn't even mark them as close friends and if i were to accidentally how would i turn it off? I didn't even mess with the settings!

You go onto that persons page. Where is says "Friends" with a tick and a star beside it click on the arrow. Then click on "Get notifications" (If it has the tick beside it) and then you won't get their notifications. Hope it helped.

Facebook adds new "features" all time. So many in fact, that its hard to keep up with the changes, thus creating sometimes confusing cases of "wait, did I change that in my settings?? What the hell is going on?" The new features usually just show up and start wreaking havoc, leaving it up to YOU to turn them off. So its more of a question of what you haven't yet messed with, (turned off) in your settings, rather than what you have.

As far as the trivial updates from the really people you'd rather not get updated on..you can easily specify the updates you don't want to receive, as well as the ones you'd like in your settings.
