Would you adopt a tripod?

As a pet, I would take a rear leg tripod but pass on one with a missing front leg, for two main reasons.
Firstly because of the increased risk of the opposite elbow giving out. I would have to have a crippled dog euthanased, and I don't know that all rescues would agree with me on that.

And also a dog with a missing rear leg probably wouldn't have any issues in our home except maybe needing supervision and help using the stairs.
But a larger breed dog with a missing front leg coming down our steep stairs would be a hazard for me. I'm disabled now and wouldn't be able to safely assist a heavy dog.

I've fostered one eyed, blind and deaf dogs with no problems and agree they tend to get homed fairly fast if you use the right photo and back story. I would suggest you make a practical list of how this is likely to affect the dog in a couple of different situations, with suggestions for managing the condition. That helps people make a more accurate assessment of whether they can really cope or not.
You can also video him doing a few things and post it on You Tube so people can see for themselves.

Good luck with him!
