It's very easy! If you don't want a picture of yourself, you can get a picture off the Internet or scan something you drew (if you like drawing). I use Windows, so these instructions are for Windows, but what you do is, first you get the picture. Say you find a picture on Google Images that you like, so you copy and paste it onto Microsoft Paint. (Make sure there's NO white space). Then, save it!!!!

Next, sign in to Yahoo Answers. Assuming you're on the "old" version of Yahoo Answers (I don't know how to do it on the new one), when you first get signed in you will see your name on the side with the soon-to-be-filled avatar box above your name. Click on your NAME.

This will take you to the "My Activity" page. Once you're there, click on "View Profile". This, of course, will take you to your profile. Run your cursor over the empty picture space--you will see the words "Change Picture". Click on that. Then, in the window that opens, click "Upload". Go to My Pictures on your hard drive, which is where all your documents on Paint are stored. Find the picture you uploaded. The picture will show on your profile in another window. Just click "Save", which will be right under the new picture. Then, you're done!

Close and reopen your browser or reboot. and your avatar should be showing If your avatar isn't showing try resizing it to make it smaller.

The Yahoo Avatars site was discontinued on April 1, 2013. You can no longer create a new Yahoo Avatar or change or update your current Yahoo Avatar.

There are many other free avatar sites where you can find or create a new avatar. The first link in this list is most like the original Yahoo Avatars page.

http://www.avatarbomb.com/

http://avatarmaker.net/
http://www.avatarhell.com/

http://www.framiq.com/

Download or save your new avatar to your personal computer files then go to your Yahoo Profile page and to upload your new avatar onto Yahoo.

1. Go to your Profile page: http://profile.yahoo.com
2. Place your cursor over your current avatar
3. Click the Change Picture window
4. Select Facebook to use your Facebook picture or Upload to use a picture from your computer files
5. Open the folder with your pictures and images
6. Select the picture you want to use and click Open
