What does this mean #? twitter? #?
They put # before a word that sums things up...I'm all lost because I don't use twitter but I see people on facebook doing this.

It's a trending topic. People put a # before followfriday or something, and it shows up on the side of twitter. For example:
#nowplaying Southern Girl- Amos Lee It's just a thing to put in a tweet. Don't worry about it. Ads |

It is known as a 'hash tag' - and you simply put it before a topic / phrase to emphasise it for the purposes of Twitter.
