The picture is called "Tree of Wisdom", by Aaron J. Groen at HomeGroen Photography. It's a panoramic view of our Milky Way Galaxy over a Ancient Native American burial mound. He doesn't say when the original photos were taken, or how they were combined, or even exactly where the tree is. However, he does live in South Dakota.
The final picture is a combination of 8 photos, each one was a 20 second exposure on ISO 3200 film. I think the photos were taken sometime in August. === wait, I found the site.
