I am from search engine marketing background. So I will answer specific to that.

If you want to promote on Internet and I assume that your business is local, you should site similar to yellowpages.com and yelp.com

If you are willing to pay google Adwords can put your ad into local market such as town and state.

Well.. The best and effective way of marketing is using Attraction Marketing..

Branding yourself and not your business opportunity..

How do you brand yourself?
By actually learning how to market.. You see most people don't know how to market.. They just go around pitching their business opportunity and fail miserably.. So, by learning how to market you have now created a lot of value.

And when you have value, u naturally have followers.. People follow People.. thats something that a lot of people don't seem to get.. You want to offer a solution and not a problem.. The solution is helping others and teaching them how to market to get profitable in their business..

I know what your saying... How is teaching someone how to market going to help you business.. Well you have to have a system in place.. You see.. 97% of the people out their arlrdy have a business which means they're not going to join yours.. But thats same group of people don't know how to market.. So.. Instead of going after people with a business opportunity, you offer to teach them how to market, by plugging them into a system.. Then you offer your primary business on the back end.. Some will join but most won't.. but it doesn't matter becuz either way you making money off of them.. You have the best of best worlds.. Your making money off of the people who join your primary business from using the system and you make money off of the people who simply want to learn how to market to explode their business.. It's all about having multiple streams of income.. One stream isn't going to cut it.. But yeah.. I guess that is it for right now.. It's hard to cover that question in great detail in just one message.. And plus.. Im sleepy, lol..

But yeah though.. If you're interested in learning more.. Just hit me up on skype or facebook..

Skype: KafilT
Facebook: search for Kafil Tunsill.. its only one of me with that name, lol..

Aight...

Peace...

I have found email marketing to be very successful , and it's a really high ROI medium. If I would you I would get started with this as soon as possible whether you're an online business or an offline one.

Sometimes it can be difficult building a list when you start out, and in order to make sure that you get some subscribers, you should place an email sign-up form where people will often see it, both online and offline.

Also, remember to sell your newsletter, you want to make it so that people will want to sign up. Answer the questions: what's in it for them?

As for content: a good mix of company news, interesting tips that people would want to read, and of course new product launches are great. One thing that works really well, especially for new businesses that don't have a lot of repeat visitors, is to offer exclusive "newsletter only" deals to you subscribers. A coupon or some incentive goes a long way to increase sales and gaining repeat visits.

I have had good experiences with email marketing, and I recommend you at least establish a newsletter.

The most effective marketing a small business can use is direct marketing. That's because it is the most measurable. You can see IMMEDIATELY which ads work and which do not. The emphasis is on results. Which efforts are paying their way.
What makes direct marketing so useful to a small business?
In brief, direct marketing is direct communication with carefully targeted individual consumers to obtain an immediate response. Direct marketers communicate directly with customers. They closely match their marketing offers and communications to the needs of carefully defined segments or even individual buyers.
Direct marketing is also an effective tool for interacting with customers to build long term customer relationships.
Direct marketing is the fastest-growing form of marketing. That's because there is a trend toward more targeted and one-to-one marketing. The direct marketer can build an ongoing relationship with each customer.
Direct marketing can also be timed to reach prospects at just the right moment.
Direct marketing also permits easy testing of alternative media and messages.
And direct marketing provides privacy--the direct marketer's offer and strategy are less visible to competitors.
In today's economy, direct marketing gives the biggest bank for your buck; there isn't the waste associated with general advertising ("Half my advertising is wasted; but I don't know which half" -- famous 19th century retailer Jjohn Wanamaker.)
For more on direct marketing, you might want to look at "The Direct Marketing Creative Generator" a blog maintained by a direct marketing prize-winner who is both a college professor and a practitioner: a good source of free ideas: martygrossdm.blogspot.com
