Why do people like Ted Kennedy?
Despite the fact that he murdered a woman (Kopechne), The woman he left at the bottom of a lake for hours, and had a slow and painful death. He could of saved her by calling the cops but instead decided to run back to his place and take a nap while she drowned.

Why do people still try to prop up a legacy for him?
Scott b: Tell that to Kopechne's family.
Scoot b: Also, why should we have sympathy for murders? We can't say anything about the UT Sniper or John Wilkes booth or any other infamous murderers anymore?
Jane Says: well I wouldn't go that far to compare him to Obama since Obama never killed anyone, but how does the public love a murderer?
Annamarie: that's apples to oranges. Laura Bush Killed someone in a car accident. It's not that Ted Kennedy drove the car to the bottom of the lake, it's the fact he never called the police to rescue her. And evidence says, she was stuck in the car for hours, which means if he acted she could of been saved.
Also, to top it off Laura Bush Never ran for office. Kennedy let the woman drown for his own personal reasons (his political life).
Sex scandals are one thing, murder is beyond it.

For Christ's sake. The man is dead. Let him rest in peace. What kind of person are you that you feel compelled to come on here and speak ill of someone that is dead?

Because he tirelessly attempted to champion for two causes near and dear to the liberal heart - immigration and health care reform. With libs, it doesn't matter if you have integrity or not, so long as you tow the party line and support their pet causes.

ETA: LOL @ the Laura Bush comparison. Did you get that from Family Guy? Ted Kennedy was a married man who got drunk and decided to fool around with Mary Jo Kopechne. He drove off a bridge, left the scene of the crime and for years pretended it didn't happen.

Laura Bush was a teenager when she missed a stop sign and hit a classmate's car at an intersection. She was unconscious at the time and had no idea she had killed someone until being treated in the hospital. It devastated her. And let's not forget - Laura Bush was a president's wife, not a politician. BIG difference.

He drowned a woman and got away with it because he was a Kennedy. He committed murder and was loved. that`s why Obama is still popular. People love the idea of the man, not his actions.

That is a very good question. I love how when a person dies, no matter what they did in life, we are supposed to "let them rest in peace".

I can't stand the kennedy family as a whole, in a world where taking pictures of your privates, and twittering them to some girls causes scandals, the life of the kennedy's is somehow out of bounds.

The brothers JFK and RFK, had sex with Marilyn Monroe, but that seems to be forgotten as well. I think it is disgusting and disgraceful that they get a "pass", when all others get thrown on the frying pan.
