Why is Google trying to own everything?
Yes, please only serious answers! The answer that gives me the most insight will get the +10.

So recently Google come out with a truckload of products that seem to be trying to kill the market.
Google bought Android before it was fully developed and it rivals Apple.
Google's "Chrome book" seems to be an early release of what could become a desktop computer
Google bought Youtube and put Hulu to shame.
Google TV Hardware (Watch TV and internet on the go)
Google maps killed Mapquest
Picasa Web Albums (Failed at killing other image hosting)
Google has its Nexus phones
Google Chrome just took a crap all over IE7,8,9,10

And now Google is coming out with Google+, which is actually trying to kill both Facebook and Twitter at the same time!

I will not be surprised if they start coming out with a Google Car or something of the sorts. What is Google trying to accomplish? Do they simply want to become the monopoly? I mean Google products are really nice and have good quality, but it is necessarily for them to dominate the market?
They basically own the Web already...

I really feel like Google is up to something...
Sorry I forgot.

Google+ is exactly like Facebook with the combination of Twitter. It looks nicer and doesn't have as much ads. Youtube a video and you will see

They're a business. If it makes them money, they do it. Though cornering the market is somewhat of an issue, as it may make them the big titan of industry that brings in all the money of the world. I smell conspiracy... O_o

I think you pretty much answered your own question. Google is involving and diversifying into multiple areas because they are very good at what they do and have amazing, smart people working for them, everything Google has done has been a success. If your a intelligent company out there like Google and you see something that someone else is doing but feel like you can do it better than they can, then why not do it? Google will rule the internet in say 5 or 6 years. They have everything you can think of and I'm almost 100% certain that all the stuff they are doing will all be combined into one website which will give you the Google search engine, Google+, Google Calenders, Gmail, Google Maps, Youtube and everything else so there will be no need to have to visit 20 different other websites when you can do everything all in one.

Google is only being competitive in a tech world that revolves around the internet, which is where they tend to dominate. To be honest, we're in an age of mobile and internet wars, and the main players are Twitter, Facebook, Microsoft, Apple and Google (for software) and HTC, Acer, RIM, Motorola and Apple (for hardware). As for the ChromeBook, they've been toying with Chromium for quite some time, but it's just a cloud computer; Chromium will never be on the same level of an operating system as Windows or Mac OS X or Linux. Android is a great mobile OS and I say it's great that Apple has something to legitimately worry about. Google TV is something to compete with Roku, but brings in better internet connectivity than most other TV systems can provide. Google Maps...it's getting better, but I still use Mapquest since it's more accurate. Picasa...it's alright; I use Flickr more than that. The Nexus phones...those failed when HTC started dominating in the smartphone arena. Anything is better than IE, but I use Firefox over Chrome more than anything. Chrome is just fast...that's about it. Google+ is just great...it introduces a whole other level of social networking and has innovative features for sharing information, so Facebook and Twitter need to figure out some things to do different with their technologies. But don't worry...Google+ won't kill out Facebook and Twitter since it allows you to connect to both technologies. It's about time someone came out with something to compete and maybe outdo Facebook in some areas.

To put it very simply -

...because Google works in the interests of its almighty shareholders.

When a corporation with investors (ie. shareholders on Wall Street) exists, it is legally obligated to do everything and anything it can within the law to return a solid investment for it's owners. Period. Go to Netflix, and start streaming a movie called "The Corporation". It'll do a deep dive on this topic. As much as Google preaches "Do No Evil", as a corporation they are no different than any of the others. They MUST continue to relentlessly grow on behalf of their shareholders. They are legally obligated to do that.

There is a lot of competition and Google wants to be ahead of everyone. So the best way is to provide better services and offer more than anyone else.
