Would you consider this as misogynistic?
Yesterday at University, we became intrigued by a link one of the students had on his Facebook account - a link to several pictures of attractive women (fully clothed).

Since I'm Bisexual and appreciate beauty, every now and then I complimented their beauty by saying "Wow, she's gorgeous" "She's stunning/beautiful."

One of the men in my class said that I was being misogynistic by doing the above. I didn't understand. The student who said this has been reported for sexism, so I counteracted by saying it's more misogynistic to say women can't drive (he says this).

This student said I was incorrect, and I was being a misogynist.
I'd probably have said similar things if the pictures were of handsome men.

No, not misogynistic at all. If the PEOPLE were attractive, it's certainly okay to say so.

Not in the least bit, you gave a compliment which was well intended.

Appreciating and/or commenting on a particular woman's beauty has nothing to do with hating women.
Most feminists don't seem to use the word correctly.

No.

But I can understand why it seemed misogynistic to HIM - being an actual misogynist himself - he obviously felt infuriated at you complimenting the women and so he decided to shift the blame onto you.

No, not at all. You complimented a beautiful woman, since when is that misogynistic?

People should stop using words like 'misogynistic' so loosely, it makes no sense.

Misgyny is a hate for women, so neither your statement not his statement were misogynistic. Your statement was complimentary towards individual women, which is neither hateful nor bigoted toward the female gender. His statment was a diss against all woman, but it wasn't really hateful, it was just sexist and incorrect.

Those students sound like idiots, I would ignore their silly claims and say "Whatever", before walking away.
