Was he acting like this cause I didn't do the prank ?

So this boy name Jose messaged me on Facebook out of nowhere , and his friend likes me which I know . When I commented on the boy boy that lies me status Jose then wrote something for me to see. So basically that's why he messaged me , and he asked if I wanted to pull a prank on Carlos (boy that likes me) back. I kind of did agree at first since it seemed a lot of fun but I then changed my mind . Jose said I'm gonna add you to our group chat so we can do it , he told me the plan but I still didn't do it . So as he invited to the chat Carlos , Jose and their friends were there , but for some reason Jose stared acting mean to me a bit , I don't get why he was nice to me in message but not on the chat ? .
