How do I let a guy down easy?

How do I let a guy down easy?
There's this guy I'm talking to who is really nice. The only problem is he smokes a lot of weed and cigarettes. I don't like to judge people, but it's just something I don't want to be around 24/7. I would rather just be friends with him. And it's kind of a turn off when EVERY picture he posts on social media is about weed, cigarettes, drinking or "pouring up." Plus, I'm leaving for college in August, so I think it'd be sort of pointless since he wants a serious relationship and I don't since its so close to college.

If he suggests a relationship, just say it as it is. "I'm sorry but I don't feel the same way about this as you do". If he pesters you into saying why then you could mention that you find smoking a turn off, and that you don't want to be subjected to passive smoking.

If you don't want to tell him your real reasons - and I don't see why not, actually - you can just say you're seeing someone else.

Just let him know that you're not wanting to be around that. You're not that type of person and he should respect that. Since you're not actually with him its not as hard as you think. Stand up for your morals. Just let him know and as a friend he should at least respect you for that decision. Good luck!

Wow that is hard, I had a friend go through the same thing. Her bf was always drinking and smoking weed and she said that she would break up with him if she ever found out he was doing that stuff again. But if you would rather let him down now and easy, I would just say, "Look i don't think this is going to work out, i mean I don't really like being around somebody who smokes and drinks and stuff, but I mean I do love you, but I am leaving for college so I don't think we would ever see each other. Sorry.. but i don't think we can be together anymore."

Tell him exactly what you told us. If he wants you he will stop, easy as that. Telling him that you dont like him is the only way though.

You have to tell him straight and be quite stern so he 100% know he has no chance with you.
Saying that don't be nasty. Say something like "I think we should be friends as I don't think were very suited to each other"
