If they insist then give a false # but remember what it is so you can log on.

toooooot. It is surely in the profile editor box but FB doesn't take that so seriously as it does with username or password. So this question doesn't really make sense. If you happen to step on that box which is intended for your phone number, you can skip that by simply skipping it. In short, you need not put anything on it.
