My ex boyfriend friended me on facebook after 7 months?

So my ex and I broke up back in May of 2013 and haven't talked since, I deleted him off my Facebook, Skype and didn't want to be in touch with him. The first month of our breakup he tried to contact me often and when I finally said we could talk but it would have to be later because I was work and he agreed, but never called me. I did text him in mid June just saying that I hoped he was doing well and sent him a friend request, it was more to just give myself closer after a hurtful breakup and I needless say I never heard back (I ended up taking the request off a few days later). New Years Eve was our first date and I needless to say knew he would probably check out my profile sometime this month, but I was mildly surprised to receive a friend request from him, I waited a couple of hours and then accepted it. Knowing him he probably won't write me and considering its been three days and I still haven't heard from its really making me wonder what his intentions of adding me where. Any thoughts? Anyone been in the same boat?

Little bit of our relationship.... He's in the Marines and so we were doing a mildy long distance relationship (we'd see each other every weekend) and things were great, I met his family and friends and the whole 9 yards. He didn't always treat me right and none of my family/friends approved of him needless to say although he never met any of them. He ended up getting restationed six hours away and after a month of not seeing each we decided that I would make the 6 hour drive and spend the weekend together. When I got there the first thing that popped out of his mouth in an insulting tone was "have you lost weight?" and treated me like **** the whole weekend and we bickered the whole time and I left for home very down. Upon returning home I didn't hear from him for two days and became suspicious and found that he had created a dating profile and when I confronted him about it he nearly told me the classic "its not you, its me", "can we still be friends?" "I just need my space". I guess he needed his space so he could find a new girl... I instantly broke things off and he wanted to know if we could get back together in the future and I responded with no. What gets to me is that the only time he could of created that profile was when I was driving 6 hours and hundreds of miles to see him while he was at the hotel because he didn't have internet at his base. Now he's in LA and I'm still in NC and I'm just so confused. I can tell he hasn't been seeing anyone else since our breakup and neither have I. I have never fully been able to get over him.

He might have been busy all these months. but he perhaps wants to reconnect with you again now so he friended you on Facebook.
