How likely is it that I can find my " real" parents?
Hi. I'm John, I'm 18 and I was adopted at 2. So was my sister who is three months younger. We were born in a town in Russia called Penza and our adoptive parents traveled all the way from America to get us. From what my mother told us, the orphanage had horrible living conditions; I was "lucky" but, because of a physical deformity, my younger sister was kept in a cage in isolation and for a short time after she arrived here in Memphis she would even hoard food unnecessarily. Hearing things like this is heartbreaking for several reasons. Sorry to ramble, but my question is if all I have are my biological parents' names (as well as my birth name), the name of my orphanage, and the name of the town in which I was born, how difficult would it be to find even a picture of one of my biological parents . My fear that an orphanage exhibiting such primitive behavior to my sister might not have been thorough enough with their paperwork to be of any real help.. What can I do about this?

My cousin was adopted from Russia, she is 9 now.. i think. But in Russia the society is different. I understand the curiousness of wanting to find your real heritage but, i am sure you will be disappointed. As i have read and heard, in several countries mothers can bring their children to an orphanage and drop them off anonymously. I'm sorry to say this, but your real mother probably wouldn't even remember. After all its been at least 16 years. As for your actual question, i am not sure. If your biological parents still live in Russia (and are still are alive? not sure if you know the status on that) you could probably go to Russia (if you're very determined) find a phone book and see if they're in that. But that's a slim to none chance. Good luck with your findings, and i hope this gave you a piece of mind (not angrily, friendly piece of mind) :-)

Highly likely, with persistence and perseverance.

I'm adopted and found my natural family internationally with very little information. It wasn't easy but determination pays dividends.

Good luck finding the truth of your origins
I'm sorry people don't seem to understand that some adoptees want to search and get answers to their questions; whether the outcome is good or bad, we just want the truth!

@♥Cherish♥ How can you say "" your real mother probably wouldn't even remember. "" ? Can you imagine a woman forgetting she has given birth? No woman EVER forgets having given birth.

> John. Your real mother probably remembers you. Some people have managed to track their real parents in Russia, so it is not impossible.

You need to get all the papers and if possible go to the orphanage asap and question the people who worked there. Do this as soon as you can to make sure the people have not changed jobs, moved out, retired or died.

In Russia, there was a time when children were trafficked and mothers who could not look after their children were offered to *temporary* help with their children, in the belief that they could fetch them back when they were able to look after them again, only to find that their kids had been adopted out without their consent.

Also, do not believe all the stuff that your "parents" tell you. Many adoptees find out that they have been lied to or that situations had been exagerated.

I guess if you have the name of the town you are from...you can find the family there...your parents will be well known
