good question! i dont actually know the answer to it but iv been wondering the same thing.
did you know though that TWITTER stands for Thoughts Which I Type To Every Reader.

PS according to google ONW can mean "on watch" or "omit needless words"

WWYBA means "Where Will You Be At"

Bob tweets: 5x5 anyone?
Fred tweets: @Bob yeah I will
Bob tweets: @Fred cool WWYBA
Fred tweets: well I have 50 followers so if I get 5 more I'll be at 55
