Somebody hacked on my account, changed my email, and password. They made a fake account of me to. And it won't let me login. I've tried the help center and as many websites and they don't help. Please help me.

You first need to get on a computer and use this to regain your account https://edit.yahoo.com/forgotroot/

Once you get access then:
Fill out a Mail Restore form ASAP http://help.yahoo.com/kb/index?locale=en...id=SLN2552 you only have a few days to restore lost mail if any mail is missing
Fill out a Contacts Restore http://help.yahoo.com/kb/index?locale=en...id=SLN2160 if your contacts are missing

Also do all of the following to protect your privacy and identity
- follow the instructions on this page for disabling forwarding http://help.yahoo.com/kb/index?locale=en...=SLN3525to make sure your emails are not all being forwarded to the hacker’s address
- make sure the alternate email address is still yours and you have a security question and answer set
- until you get your Contacts back find some other way to reach them - Facebook, twitter, text, etc -- to inform them that your account was hacked. They will be getting an email from the scammer claiming to be you needing to borrow money for some emergency
- if you used your same username and password for ANY other site, you need to immediately change the passwords on ALL of those accounts. Unfortunately 80% of people use the same username and password for everything. Hackers know this and once they know your email login they'll try those same details on Facebook, Paypal, Twitter, Linkedin, Amazon, EBay, every major bank and credit card company, etc to try and hack those accounts as well
- if your emails contained ANY financial information (Paypal receipts, online banking statement, credit card bills, et) you need to IMMEDIATELY inform these institutions. You will have to freeze your bank and credit card accounts and get new account numbers and cards sent to you. Set up a new email address to change your Paypal account. These hackers will go through all of your emails to see if there is anything they can use to steal your money and identity
- also consider filing a fraud alert with the credit bureaus -- read the FTC website http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/features/fea...tity-theft

You didn't get an email recently that looked like it was from Yahoo asking you to verify or update your account, or that your account had exceeded its limits, or that there was suspcious activity did you? That was not from Yahoo, that was a phishing scam

Hi, Your Yahoo Account MAY have been Hacked, this is happening to people all over the Yahoo network and has been been for months.

ANYWAY HERE'S WHAT YOU NEED TO DO:-

You need to contact Yahoo by Email.

This can be done by clicking on HELP at the Bottom Right Hand side of the Yahoo Home Page.

Click on Yahoo Mail, or whatever one is best for you, you can also click on the arrows for more options, or type your problem in the Serach Help box.

Go to the Right hand side of page and click on Contact Customer Care.

Click on Category, page will reload for you to click on Sub Category.
Make sure you fill in Brief Details of what has Happened, click Enter.

Depending on the Category you select and the Sub Category you also select you should then see at the Bottom of the Page for more help Click on EMAIL A SUPPORT AGENT. You may have to click on different ones and try variations.

There will then be a Form to fill in. Fill in the form with as much information as you can remember about your security details and your account.

Yahoo will then contact you at a Different Email Address that you need to give them. This email address CANNOT be a yahoo email one.

You need to give them a different Email Address, it could be one that you already have or you will need to create a new one, Google, Hotmail, etc. You do this by clicking on Email and then click on Register and follow the instructions.

They only need this other email address to give you instructions regarding your yahoo account.

You may be asked to create a new password, Best a hard to Guess One for anyoner trying to access your Yahoo Account.

I Would Also Strongly advise that you register your Mobile Number/cell phone number with Yahoo, that way if your account is hacked a message should come up and they can send a code to your phone for you to then unlock your email account.

Good Luck
Claire
