How to approach from Greece online?

Hi! So last summer I went on vacation in Europe and while I was in Greece for a week I met a guy on the beach. We went out with his friends one of my nights there and they were all nice and fun to hang out with. Then I left and came back to the US where I live and while having this greek guy as a friend on Facebook, I notice one of his guy friends and decide to check out his profile. I instantly fell in love not with the way he looks and after creeping his profile enough ) I also noticed we have same taste in music and other things. I decide to message him and say this "Hi! How are you?Can you write english? Lol", he responds something like "Hey I am fine, and you? I dont know very good english" then I decide to go all for it and say it to see what reaction I get from him. So I say "I see.. Anyway i wish we would have met when i was in Greece this summer lol" , the he says "I hope next year you will come again and then we can meet!!!!!" and i finally respond with "I wanna come next summer but i'm not sure if i will make it. I hope i can tho" to which he doesn't say anything back anymore. Obviously it is weird enough that I tell him that so what can he say back, we don't even know each other.
I am a pretty blonde european girl so I'm sure he would like me but I can't know if we would be compatible other than for the looks. I got a job recently and am planning to go there in the summer for a month or so to see if something happens, even if nothing happens between us I would still go and have fun. I am thinking to message him again and try to make conversation but I really don't know what to say as he already told me his english is not good. We are both 23 and I think he is single as well. I know greek guys are into lots of girls since there is so many tourists there all the time, but I would like to see if something can work out between us. I would ask the guy that I met there to see what he says about it but that guy is somewhat interested in me, at least he was when I was there , although nothing happened with us, so I think it would be awkward. Any advice to how can I get us to talk so I can at least have some assurance that there may be a chance for us to meet if I go there? Thank you!!

I find it a bit difficult to believe that a young man of his age does not know enough English to hold a basci conversation with someone.
From what you have posted it is obvious that even with help he can at least write back some ideas. Of course that is not enough in that simplistic level but you get a response.

In F/b what does he enter with? Only Greek or English too? That should give you an indication.

Most likely he is involved with someone else and he is cautious as to how to approach you. Anyway, it looks to me that you are making too many initial moves and if he seems interested in you, he should make contact with you. Just let it be known that you may be available.
