Does social media (Facebook, Instagram) affect your self-esteem? Make you jealous?
I noticed I've been basing my self-worth on the Internet. My photo gets 30 likes while a friends get 100+ and extra comments: Omg your hot! Stunning! Beautiful! My Facebook often consists of quotes and posts I put up with the occasional friend writing something on my wall...while some of my friends have others posting "OMG I miss you! When am I gonna see you?" As for Instagram, well, same thing.

I never took it to heart before. I didn't care, but recently I've been falling into a spiral of self-hatred. Social Media is making it a lot worse.

Unfortunately I can't deactivate Facebook since my entire family overseas are in constant contact and message/photo exchanging with me and my family.

I actually don't give a fvck I mean I see many ppl trying too hard to look beautiful like adding millions of effects, taking good morning pictures with make up and photoshop, wearing mini mini skirts, and I get around 30 likes and a couple of compliments from family members lol but for me it's all good because at least I'm natural

I don't even use social media, except for Instagram. But I only use Instagram so my family who lives far away can still see my son and stay updated with our family. If anything, it boosts my self esteem because I only have family who love and care for me on it. So when I post a picture of myself with my son or something, they say nice things.

It's ridiculous how dependent people are on Facebook, like you saying you "can't delete it". If you really can't delete it, then just get rid of everyone except the family you need to stay in touch with and get rid of your other social media accounts.
