Facebook makes money when people pay for advertisements (they usually show up on the right side of the screen) and when people buy Facebook credits to play games.

Personally I get no adverts at all but as I use Firefox with the adblock plus addon, I get no adverts at all anywhere.

they also make money i think through the games they own so people buy credits through them but mainly advertisement.
