Is it illegal to post information about fire department emegencys on facebook fan pages?

I need a law enforcement/firefighter or anyone who knows to answer this question

Fire calls are a matter of public record. There is no law against posting the information.

Anything that happens outside is fare game for the media. People may not like it, and you might catch some flak for it but....Damn-it this the 'THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA' and even though the GOVERNMENT wants all in your business, we still have "FREEDOM OF SPEECH".

Just posting pictures of the fire should not be a problem. I know plenty of firefighters that do this. If there is a victim in the photograph you may not want to post it. Being in this profession, you should be very careful of any information you post. I have seen plenty of police officers and firefighters get canned for posting pictures or people on their friends' list posting comments to their page. It's not work related, it's not even unethical, but it the wrong person sees it (and yes, they look) it can get you in a lot of trouble. "Conduct unbecoming" is whatever your supervisor interprets it to be. I do believe it is much worse for police officers, but you aren't immune by any means.

These pictures should be fine, but you are right in getting a second opinion. Be careful. We all know that we gave up our first amendment rights when we became emergency services personnel.
