Is this mathematical idea actually true (see inside)?
From @UntoldSecrets on Twitter:

"If you take any number, double it, add 10, divide by 2, and substract the original number, the answer is always 5."

Now tried that with 10, and it worked.

But does it really work with any number?

certainly ; n ---> 2n---> 2n + 10 -----> [2n+10]/2 = n+ 5---> 5

Of course, this is simple algebra:

x ---> double it = 2x
2x ----> add 10 = 2x + 10
2x + 10 ----> divide by 2 = (2x+10)/2 = x + 5
x + 5 ----> subtract original number = (x+5)−x = 5

yes it is correct for every number

[(2n + 10)/2] - n = 5

that is the mathematical expression

n + 5 - n = 5

hence

5 = 5

so for every number the answer will be 5

Yes as you are deleting the original number so you are only dealing with 10 which you divide by 2.
