Should I add him on Facebook?

So there is this boy I have a huge crush on. We are from the same small town so we met a few times, but I am not really sure he remembers that, but I do haha. So I am wondering how weird or creepy it would be to add him on Facebook. I mean we probably have about 50 mutual friends (couse it's a small town) and I am sure it's no such big deal. What would be a problem is that I have this big crush on him and I really do not want to seem easy or desperate... I mean I do not wish to spoil anything, however, I really don't know if an opportunity would arise to talk to him as easy and friendly as on Facebook.
Adding him on Facebook would mean I would then chat and tell him that for example I just noticed some of his interests on Facebook and decided we had something in common so I added him, which wouldn't be far from the truth..
