Facebook App for my Iphone 3GS keeps crashing?

So, I just got an Iphone 3GS for christmas and it's working really well. The only problem is the facebook app I downloaded from the app store keeps crashing and logging me out automatically. I downloaded it straight from my Iphone and it seemed to work well for the first day, then the second day it kept crashing. Is there any way for this to be fixed? I think other people have been having the same problem. It's not the Iphone because everything else is working great.
I downloaded the latest software already and tried deleting the app and downloading it again but nothing has worked. It's very odd, sometimes it will work fine and sometimes it won't. I guess I have to go to the apple store..

It could be the iPhone, do you have the latest iOS software?
Plug your iPhone into your computer, open iTunes and go to your iPhone.
From there check if there is an available update.
If there isn't, you should try deleting and re-downloading the FaceBook app, this worked for me.
