Twitter wont change my username (@)?

i go to change my username and i find one that is awailable but when i go to save it, it says "That username has been taken. Please choose another." and i type it in again, it says available, then i try to save it, and it says the same thing. why? how can i fix it? do i need to contact the twitter team? if so how?

It could be a server issue... it could be an issue with the name itself... fact is there really is no way to know and by the time Twitter team does get back to you on the issue you will already most likely either have the name or chose a new name. However, you can attempt to contact them with the issue to find out. Expect about 24-48 hours for a reply.
