YouTube alternative *without* ads?
Myself (like many others), are going tired of Youtube, as it continues to grow away from its grassroots beginnings, and morphing into yet another extension of the corporate media. I'm looking for a site like what Youtube *used* to be like several years ago. Mainly, a site where the videos are homemade, and receive prominence by being collectively 'voted up', instead of any video created by those who are 'partners'. Where ads on videos are minimal, if not non-existent.

With all the Youtube clones out there, I'm sure there has to be at least one that fits the bill, but I've yet to discover it. Links would be great, thanks!
About Adblock Plus - I had it, I loved it.. and I had to get rid of it in order to watch youtube videos. Unless something has changed very recently, or there is some sort of configuration I don't know about (and I did some googling on the subject)... Youtube managed to make adblock+ useless by causing videos not to load properly while its running. Still, the ads are only part of the problem, even if Adblock+ still worked.
Stephen,

Although you clearly get pleasure in acting smug, I’ll assure you I’m well aware of economics 101. As I’ve already stated, adblockers themselves get blocked on Youtube (at least in my recent experience). Also, if you bothered to pay attention, the ads aren't the only thing driving me away from Youtube. I don’t post videos, so your petty insult is moot. If you knew anything about how the partner system actually works (and I assure you, you don’t) you wouldn't have made your ignorant statements.

"I'm sorry if 15 seconds (max) is too much for you to handle! I go back to my original statement, grow up."

And I’m sorry you couldn’t be bothered to put more than 15 seconds worth of thought into your worthless rambling of an answer. Next time, before you childishly tell others to ‘grow up’ for asking a legitimate question, you might want to consider growing up yourself. Your response shows you have a lot of it in front of you, good-day.

Sorry to say this, as you probably won't like it. But grow up.

You're tired of youtube? Or what? The ads? Use firefox with an ad blocker. But realize, that's how youtube makes it's money. That's how it functions. That's how you're able to post videos in the first place! Would you provide a multimillion dollar service absolutely free? Of course not!

You're tired of only youtube partners posting videos? The youtube partners are just every day people who got popular with an idea! Is your channel not taking off? Well that probably means your videos aren't all that great. The partners are no different than you are. They're just popular, through their OWN work! Partnership, just puts some ads up so they themselves can also make money through their videos.

I'm sorry if 15 seconds (max) is too much for you to handle! I go back to my original statement, grow up.

Those Annoying adds are paying off my car, putting new guitar gear in my room, and getting my girl friend nice things. Also keeping my gas tank full. And I drive a 2011 Jetta.. So think this; You are making people money everytime you see a popup, and little ad. You may become a partner like me one day, and you will be glad the ads are there.

Why does everyone say youtube wont be free without ads? Its was free before ads and if youtube is making enough money that they are making 13 year old kids who are partners into millionaires they can cut back on the ads. On facebook do you need to watch a ad whenever you post something? No, ads are on the side. Youtube should just keep ads on the side and not have them on every video. Im not going to attempt to watch a music video but then see a ad on skin cream then suddenly run to the store to buy that cream. Ads=Rich people trying to get richer. Even without the video ads youtube would still be free but with video ads pretty much google is going from making a fortune off the site to making a FORTUNE. GOOGLE=CHEAP ALSO STOP CHANGING THE DAM LAYOUT, DONT FIX WHAT AINT BROKEN!!!!

Sorry Guys,
but I can't agree more with Ken!!!

Youtube became ads monster. I don't say they don't need ads... I'm saying that the amount of ads is becoming abusive. place an add 1 to 10 videos, not 1 to 1!
if i had the money I would have built new tube site without this annoying ads...
after all - this is the reason youtube became viral on the first place
