well ive been snooping around.in my ex's profile lately n i saw he got a Facebook profile checker. Ive heard those things r scams but I'm not sure ??? ( I'm not his friend just to point, were only mutual friends

NO! those things are just virus's and can really screw up your computer or it can hack your facebook profile. Most of the time when you see those things posted they are not posted or tried by that user, it is just a spam posted by facebook. Don't ever click on those. They will never be able to show private settings as such to the public.
