How do I make more friends on Facebook?

I have about 279 friends on Facebook, but it is difficult to add more friends because I usually see the same people over and over again.

How does a person get 1000 friends? I am just curious and what are the best steps to add more friends.

i just type in a name and pic people off the list with that name and i end up with like a bunch of new friends in one day. of course i don't actually know them but some do take the time to get to know me. just watch out for people who don't speak your language because they always start talking to you but if you don't know what they are saying then it's not too good.

dont get a lot of facebook friends. i have near 900 and its annoying but i cant seem to delete them all. you know how many i actually talk to or hang out with 50 maybe!!!
